There was good news for the high school seniors who just finished the college scholastic ability test and prepared for a new change as an adult. It was the news that the Bible seminar for pre-graduate high school students would be held. The seminar was held at the New Jerusalem Temple located in Bundang on November 25, 2012. Around 2,000 students nationwide attended the seminar that was hosted by the young adult group of the Church of God.
Around noon, the performance of the Elohist Quartet opened the seminar. Under the title of “Feminism and God the Mother,” the seminar was composed of three parts. Two presenters for each part gave a presentation by showing the audience objective and detailed materials such as the Bible, statistics and media reports.
The subtitle of part one was the “Feminism phenomenon and God the Mother.” The presenters cast light upon the current of the age that women became active in various social sectors in this age together with the prophecy of the Bible. The second part dealt with “the necessity of God the Mother in this age and Her role.” They explained that just like the mother mediates disputes in a family, only God the Mother can take on the role of a peacemaker in this global village. In the third part where the subject was “God the Mother the source of life and the journey to the Holy Land,” they emphasized that the true journey to the Holy Land is to come to Heavenly Jerusalem Mother who has consideration for the people, serves them and welcomes them in comfort. After finishing the third part, there was a video presentation. It was the interview with the Church of God members who are experts in the fields of science, medicine, investigation and so on, and the members’ volunteer activities, and it caught much attention of the audience.
After the seminar, the students had fun playing traditional Korean games at the front yard of the temple and in the parking lot. They enjoyed games such as Biseok-chigi (hitting stone slabs), tuho (arrows-throwing game), ttakji-chigi (a game of slap-match) and jegi-chagi (shuttlecock game), and received rice cake, hand-made soap, lip balm, mandarin orange with coupons. Despite the chilly weather, the students’ faces were full of smiles.
Lee Han-jun (from Seoul) who said that he was trying to do good in school as he was taught by the teachings of God the Mother from his childhood said, “I give thanks to God for holding the seminar for the high school seniors. In my school, the president of the school council is a female student and female students are taking the lead in school activities, and I think this is relevant to feminism. I, too, want to spread the love of God the Mother through volunteer activities.” A student Park Eun-hae (from Chuncheon), who learned about God the Mother for the first time, said, “It seems that the Church of God make efforts to practice love unlike the other churches. God the Mother is something new to me, but I want to know more about it.”
In the words of the Bible, the youth who are willing to do God’s work are described as the dew of the dawn. The dew of the dawn, which is so clear and full of hope, is in the eyes of the pre-graduate high school students who are rising to change the world with the love of Mother.
