14th Melchizedek Literary Awards

  • País | Korea
  • Fecha | Diciembre 08, 2013
The Bible is a steady seller and bestseller that moves the hearts of the world. By reading the Bible, people who were in despair got hope, people who were in sadness got happiness, people who were lost found the way and saw the light of life in darkness. This is the power of writing written by the Holy Spirit.

On December 8, the 14th Melchizedek Literary Awards was held on the 12th floor at the WMC building in Bundang. From June 1 to July 15, writings in five sectors—essay, novel, story, column, and opinion—written in Korean, English, Chinese, Spanish, Nepalese, and Vietnamese were submitted for entries and there was a special entry for illustration. Out of 1,000 entries, 29 winners—19 adults and 11 youths—were chosen. The award ceremony was attended by 400 members: winners including finalists, and the members working for literary mission in publication, translation, screenplay, photograph, and illustration.

During the service in the 1st part, Mother encouraged writers of Zion who are saving souls with their writings and design editors who are supporting the writings with photographs and illustrations. “As your publications are being sent to every place of the world where we haven’t had church yet as well as army bases, the members who are keeping their faith alone are greatly encouraged by your writings,” saying this, Mother emphasized how important the role of literary mission is. Adding, “People who read the writings can be changed to be beautiful only when you write with an earnest heart to save souls and a beautiful heart to love your brothers and sisters,” Mother hoped that they would work harder to produce writings of the Holy Spirit that bring new happiness and hope to all people of the world in 2014.

“Writing has the power to move people. And it is you who has the power,” said General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol, giving directions to the gospel reporters of this age. David, a man after God’s own heart, wrote psalms to boast about God; and the writers of the Gospels wrote about Jesus’ life so that readers would realize the great sacrifice of Jesus. Pastor Kim Joo-cheol also said, “Let us boast about God Elohim and deliver God’s love and hope to weary souls by weaving every stitch of our writings with God’s love engraved in our hearts, rather than trying to use techniques.”

Before the award ceremony, there was a video presentation followed by a poem recital. An animation video titled “I have inscribed you on my palm” adapted from an award-winning essay portrayed Father’s ardent love and made the members move to tears. And a poem recital titled “Mother” expressed Heavenly Mother’s beautiful love in verses and made a deep impression on the members.

In the award ceremony, Mother gave a certificate and a prize to the winners. She repeatedly asked the members to write to give heaven’s hope to weary people and blessed them to receive a bigger award in the kingdom of heaven.

Although the winners submitted their works in different sectors, they spoke in one voice that they would become writing prophets who boast about God the Father and God the Mother. The silver award winner in story sector, Deaconess Na Gyeong-eun, said, “Many people don’t know the truth of the Bible. Furthermore, they don’t know about Heavenly Father and Mother. I hope that our writings can be the sure evidence in proclaiming the true God.” The gold award winner in novel sector, Park Dong-hyeon, showed his aspiration, “Though I’m lacking in many ways, I would like to write many touching writings so that I can lead many souls to Heavenly Father and Mother.”
